🏁 Soulcycle Shred the Shack – Saturday, May 17

On Saturday, May 17, we’re hosting a BMX Freestyle contest with two classes. Both categories will run on the same day. Below you'll find all the important info about participation, format, and judging.

📍 Location
Skatepark – NDSM, Amsterdam
(NDSM-Plein 1, 1033 WC Amsterdam)
Outdoor park at the iconic NDSM wharf.

🏆 Classes

🥇 Pro Class (UCI C1)

  • For riders aged 15 and older
  • Open to all. UCI or day license required to compete
  • UCI license holders earn points; day license holders do not
  • Maximum of 31 riders

🎯 Amateur Class 15+

  • For riders aged 15+ without a UCI license
  • Same format as the Pro Class, but no UCI points
  • Maximum of 15 riders

💶 Entry Fee: €20 per rider (all classes)

📋 Contest Format

  • Two phases: Qualification + Final
  • Riders are randomly assigned to heats of 6
  • Each rider gets 2 runs of 1 minute per phase
  • In Qualification: average of both runs counts
  • In Final: best run counts
  • Pro Class:

    • With 16–31 entries: Top 12 advance to Final (2 heats of 6)

    • With 9–15 entries: Top 8 advance to Final (2 heats of 4)

    • With 5–8 entries: Top 4 advance to Final (1 heat of 4)

    Amateur Class:

    • Top 8 from Qualification advance to Final (2 heats of 4)

  • Each heat will have a warm-up 

🧮 Judging & Scoring

  • Each judge scores from 0.00 to 99.99
  • Riders are judged on:

    a. Difficulty – Not only the tricks performed, but also their placement within the course and the combinations used
    b. Height – Amplitude of the tricks performed
    c. Flow – Smoothness and continuity throughout the run
    d. Originality & Versatility – Unique tricks, lines, and a broad skill set
    e. Style – Personal expression and control
    f. Progression – Pushing the sport forward with new or evolving tricks
    g. Variety – A good mix of standard airs, rotations, grinds, etc.
    h. Risk Factor – Level of danger or commitment in the tricks attempted
    i. Landings – Clean and controlled landings
    j. Use of the Course – Creativity and completeness in using all features
    k. Execution – Overall precision and control

  • Final score = average of all judges’ scores
  • In Qualification: average of both runs counts
  • In Final: best of 2 runs counts
  • Individual judges' scores are not published

  • No same-day registration

  • Participation = acceptance of event rules
  • Max. 31 riders in Pro Class / Max. 15 riders in Amateur Class
  • Entry fee: €20 per rider
  • Free entry for spectators – come watch and enjoy the action!
